Position:You Name it I did it (almost)
Show:Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean
Summary:Props Set Lights
Description:My two favorite things about this production were the lights and the set dressing. This show jumped back and forth between the 1950's and the 1970's. The dressings had to work for both periods. The lighting had to jump form an idealized 50's to a run down 70's during a heat wave. I had to synchronize in two lighting/dimming systems a huge resistance concrete big lever twist lever thing and a two scene preset with analog control. It had two cool specials including an orange soda fountain and a ceiling fan that worked during the 1950's scenes.
notes:Making glass without plexy was a challenge. This is also the first show Theatre for a Cause did that used advance painting techniques like scumble, wet blend, and spatter. I'd never been the charge artist before especially with out a design to paint by. The colors were mostly picked by what paints were donated. I did my best to give it a consistant theme and have more texture than the previous set-that was only base coated. I got most of the painting done by high school students, teaching them what I knew..
