My main role was handling the technical sides to the productions including sound, lights, paint, props, set dressing and some set construction.
Theater for a Cause was a not-for-profit theater, that raised money and awareness for charities. Originally it raised money for AIDS medication for patients who needed help and later Habitat for Humanity as well as others. I came in originally to do lighting for their first production Torch Song Trilogy. I became more involved as a board member with the founding of the company. I was one of the few members involved with theatre Production experience. Some of our other shows included Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, and Ten Little Indians. While there were several important additions to the board of directors, the administrative end did not grow fast enough to help the undercapitalized theatre, and it folded. The theatre had the right intentions and was rewarding while it lasted.
