I ran Sound board for all the shows in the Pamela Brown Theater for the 93 Humana festival. I ran Betty the Yetti, Julie Johnson, Survivor, Shotgun, and two one act shows Stones and Bones,The Last Time I Saw Her. It was all pretty exciting for me, because I got to work at a theatre that meant a lot to me growing up and got to work with two good designers (with challenging and interesting designs) and many interesting directors, stage managers.
The story:
I was sleeping one Sunday morning at 10AM when I got the call. Darren West called because they were in need of a sound board operator for their 93 Humana festival. He asked if I was interested. I said "sure when?" He said "Rehearsal starts in an hour." (They were replacing the board operator for the third time in four days) So ran down to ATL andas I got behind the board they started, and within the next thirty seconds they called over 20 cues. Feeling very sheepish, I asked Greg the stage manager of Survivor to hold the show. I then asked the designer which faders went to which input/outputs and what the scribblings meant on the cue sheets(oh! 'K' stands for 'K'-set , or cassette). After two min we started again and I nailed it cold and I got the job.
Personal note:
While I was working here I worked sun up to sundown and over a few days both my headlights burned out. I'd like to extend a special thanks to Ben for getting me some new ones while I was at work. It pays to have friends.
